About the publication
This text was published in 2025 in the collective volume 75 lat kształtowania się wielopłaszczyznowego systemu ochrony praw człowieka w Europie, edited by Jerzy Jaskiernia and Kamil Spryszak. The table of contents lists my chapter under the title Sztuka jako narzędzie ochrony praw człowieka – między ekspresją a społeczną odpowiedzialnością, beginning on page 114.
The book is connected to the XVII International Scientific Conference on Human Rights, organized in the Sejm of the Republic of Poland on 31 March–1 April 2025. In this context, the publication places artistic practice within a broader legal, social, and ethical discussion on the protection of human rights in Europe.
What the text addresses
The chapter reflects on art not only as a field of individual expression, but also as a medium that can sharpen sensitivity to violence, exclusion, inequality, and the fragility of civil rights. It asks how artistic freedom can remain open and critical while also carrying social responsibility.
Rather than reducing art to illustration or activism, the text positions it as a space where symbolic form, emotion, and public consciousness can intersect. In that sense, art becomes a tool of attention: it can expose hidden tensions, humanize abstract systems, and create conditions for deeper ethical reflection.
Why this matters in my practice
This publication is important to me because it places my thinking within a wider human-rights discourse while preserving the specificity of artistic language. It shows that art can move between image, critique, intuition, and public responsibility without losing its autonomy.
It is also a meaningful moment of visibility: the text appears in a publication tied to an event held in the Polish Parliament, which gave the reflection an institutional and civic frame beyond the immediate art context.
